Discord servers come with helpful features such as permissions and roles that allow you to control who can see what and what users can do in your server.

Just like in an actual classroom, you set the atmosphere of the whole discord server by how you approach the class. Example: Formal but friendly, Strict and formal.

2. A reminder of the classroom policies and guidelines stated in the syllabus
3. Do’s and Dont’s
4. Anything you want the class to know
You may opt to make your students type something for acknowledgment or let them click a “check” react to the rules themselves.
Wherein you can announce anything such as synchronous class is now in session and such for a section.
Make sure to edit permission in this channel by:
1. Right-Click the channel then select “Edit channel”
2. Go to “Permissions” and check “Private Channel”
3. Click on “Add members or Roles” then select the corresponding section role and your own role. Do not add beadles, it will give access to everyone who has the beadle role (even the beadle of the other section)
4. Make sure for the students that they can’t message in the channel so it won’t get spammed. Scroll down the permissions and click “X” on Send messages.
Permissions allow you to determine who can only see certain categories and channels, often done through roles for more organization and less hassle.
Make sure to edit permission in this channel by:
1. Open the server you want to add roles to and click its name in the top-left corner.
2. Click Server Settings.
3. Select Roles in the left sidebar, and then click Create Role.
4. You'll be brought to the Edit Role screen. This is split into three sections: Display, Permissions, and Manage Members.
In Display, you can set the new role's name and color, how they'll show up in the Members list, and whether other users are allowed to ping them.
In Permissions, you'll choose what members with this role can do in the server. By default, they'll be able to chat on public servers, send invites, and change their username. But if you'd like, you can also give them the power to edit server settings, ban other users, and more. Each permission have a straightforward explanation, you may opt to read them before deciding whether to give this power to a certain role.
In Manage Members, you can manually assign roles to server members.
5. Once you're ready, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Your role will be added to the list of server roles.
Allows you to organize the users in the server and customize their permissions.
1. Beadle
To assist you in the server, beadles have their own role with additional permissions such as managing channels, emojis & stickers, and server.
2. Professor
This is for you, to be able to separate yourself from your students and beadles. This role should have the Administrator checked in the permissions.
3. Section -
You may create roles for each section needed within the server, advisably read the permissions and select which ones you want your students to have or not have access to. But the default permissions are usually alright to begin with.

To assist you in the server, beadles have their own role with additional permissions such as managing channels, emojis & stickers, and server.
2. The manual method is:
Multiple members:
a. Head over to Server Settings and click on Roles.
b. Click on the role you’d like your members to have
c. Click on Manage Members then Add Members.
d. Click the checkboxes next to each member who should have that role and click Add
Per Person:
a. Click the user you want to assign a role to from the right-hand pane.
b. Select the small “+” under the username and select the role from the menu.
1. You may remove roles by clicking on the user’s name on the right-hand pane.
2. Hover over the role you wish to remove.
3. Press the “X” button beside the role name.
It is common that each teacher has multiple classes they have to manage and it is important that students can only see their class. These are the steps in order to do that.
1. Right-Click the “Section category” then select “Edit category”
2. Go to “Permissions” and check “Private Category”
3. Click on “Add members or Roles” then select the corresponding section role and your own role.
Do not add beadles, it will give access to everyone who has the beadle role (even the beadle of the other section
This is done to distinguish the users in the server.
1. Head over to Server Settings and click on Roles.
2. Click on the role and make sure you’re in the “Display” option
3. Scroll down until you see “Display role members separately from online members”
4. Click the button besides it and repeat for every role.
5. You may also change the color of the role by scrolling up and picking from the color palettes or typing the hex code of a color.
1. Click on the server name and press “Invite people”
2. Copy the link and share it. The link expires after 7 days.
If you don’t want the link to expire, click on edit invite link below the generated link.
Click on the dropdown of “Expires after” and click on Never then close. No need to generate a new link, the previously generated link will have its expiration changed.
