The first of the Discords tools are text channels. This is where people can send written messages, images, pictures, or files.
Threads help streamline multiple topics into one text channel without the need to create a new text channel for the server. They make it easier to follow a singular topic on one channel in the case multiple, big topics are simultaneously occurring in one channel. These threads can last for a certain amount of time after inactivity.
Pinning posts allow users to save vital information sent on a text channel and make it easier to locate even after time passes and the original message is buried.

Users in voice channels are able to share their screen in real time to other users in the call. There are available options to share the whole screen or specific windows alongside the audio.
There is a limitation on how many users can go into the voice channel. 99 users can all join a voice channel however, if cameras are on, a total of 25 people in the server can join the channel to video chat together.
A role is a defined set of permissions under a name. Users under certain roles are given access to certain actions that can help manage a server and its users, as well as assist in customizing it further. Users can be given multiple roles.
In larger servers, permissions can be given to users on what channels they can interact with. It can limit what text and voice channels they can access or even view.
There is a wide array of emojis available for use in Discord servers. Server owners or those with specific roles can even upload custom emojis for users to use within that server. They can either be sent along with messages to help indicate tone, or used as a reaction or acknowledgement to messages.
Voice channels are where users can meet over voice and video. Users can see others using the voice channels and also hop in with a simple click of the mouse.
There are certain features in Discord servers that are locked behind server boosts. This includes audio and stream quality in voice channels, a larger upload limit for files, additional features for threads, and higher customization for the overall server. Boosts are paid, however multiple users within the server can donate a number of boosts to help unlock the different perks.
Discord Events essentially give an advanced notice to users in the server of any upcoming events. These can include the event’s name, description, date, time, as well as specify whether the event will take place on the server or on another online platform.
