Your server is made up of two types of channels; text channels and voice channels. Text channels are separate spaces for talking over text. Voice channels are where you can hang out over voice and video.
1. Right-click on the empty space on the list of categories and channels. Or alternatively, open the drop-down menu of your server and click “Create Channel”
2. Input the name of your Channel and then confirm.
3. Just like a category, you can always edit a channel by right-clicking on the target channel and pressing the “Edit Channel” option. There you can rename and edit the permissions.
1. Right-click the channel
2. Press “Delete Channel” and confirm.
Currently, you can’t copy an entire category with all sorts of channels, but you can duplicate each channel
1. Right-click on the channel you want to duplicate.
2. Click "Clone Channel"
3. You can rename the channel if you'd like, then press "Create Channel"
Note that you can always rearrange both your categories and channels by just dragging it above or below each other.
Here is a sample format of an academic server that you may copy: Consisting of 3 Categories: General, Section, and Admin; 15 Channels- 9 of them being templated channels to be duplicated under the category of Section (in accordance with how many sections you will handle in that subject).
Now what if you wanted a Discord server for each subject?
1. Open the server you wish to copy and click on the name then click server settings.
2. Click on “Server Template”
3. Enter a title and description for your template.
4. Select Generate Template.
5. View the preview template to double-check the content.
6. Copy the Discord Link and paste it on the profs-only channel so only you can see then click “Create”.
Note that only Channels, channel topics, Roles and permissions + server settings are included in what gets copied but not the content, members, bots, and server perks.
